Opened Louise Hay's 'Everyday positive thinking' book the other day. Did not really put any thought into what page I was going to read so decided to simply fan the pages and stop when it felt right. The quote I spontaneously chose was:
'Reach for the feeling of well-being first, and everything else will fall into place. Be selfish enough to follow your bliss, and you will tap in the natural, pure, positive essence of you.' Abraham-Hicks.
This past month I had to deal with a very sensitive and difficult situation at work that was affecting several employees. Upon reflecting what steps I was going to take to resolve the issue the one 'selfish thought' that played a strong role in my decision and plan of action was....at the end, will I be in a happier place? Although I knew others were affected, I chose to focus on what would help me feel blissful once more and proceeded to make whatever choices were required to follow my bliss. Wonderfully enough, the universe opened it's arms and everything fell into place beautifully. The resources required to deal with the situation were promptly available upon asking, there was overwhelming support from various sources and at the end of the day, when all was said and done....many people, including myself were feeling quite blissful. I am grateful for the blessing of this experience.

EQ (Emotional Intelligence)
What I liked from PN on the subject and what I will incorporate into my life to build on my skills....
Negative feelings...we don’t like them but have to accept them..even though that is challenging at times. Emotions, no matter how painful they are, are not the problem. The problem is wallowing in them, placing our life on hold while trying to work them out or fix them. Question: would you rather feel depressed while sitting in room all alone or would you rather feel depressed while cleaning your house/office, going for a walk...doing anything more productive that sitting all alone in a room with your thoughts. Concept – by doing anything productive even while feeling negative about something, we will eventually improve our emotional state VS simply worrying or simply stewing in negativity.
Self-Mastery: practice, practice, practice! If I want to live in ‘being present’ I need to practice ‘being present’. The more I practice the more it becomes natural and automatic. So...what can I count on that will keep me practicing? My passion to learn and my desire to create new behaviours that make me happier! Even if I forget or lose track...one I remember..I’ll be back to practicing what I am learning. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE...until the new behaviour becomes part of my natural repertoire. And then....express gratitude! Gratitude leads me to feel happier. Feeling happier leads me to want to practice some more. Cool!
Emotions: they make or break us down the road of success. Emotions will either hinder or help us with our perceptions, planning, solving problems, communicating, relating with others, etc. They affect our ability to deal with situations successfully...dependent where the emotions are on a scale of 1 to 10 of ’ in control’ to ‘out of control’. Without a doubt in my mind, I will see more success if I shift my perceptions to emotions or thoughts that are more pleasant and if I keep my negative feelings under control. I therefore will practice seeing the blessing in any given situation and focus on my strengths that can help me deal, change or cope what is before me.
Keeping the Faith: Believing that I have both the will and the way to accomplish my goals. I like this belief and it makes me feel hopeful of my future.

Focusing on my strengths
I recently read PN re:Authentic Happiness. Things I really liked and will practice are: focusing on my strengths vs trying to correct short-comings. This makes a lot of sense. Emphasizing on my strengths and building on them will naturally take care of the short-comings...so why stress over them? No need to! Shifting from worry to more positive energy like focusing on strenghts will only help me feel better about myself and my approach to situations or people. Increased self-esteem and overall satisfaction....gotta love that! I listed my strenghts: Loving and supporting
Generous,Caring,Hopeful/positive thinker,Great friend,Honest,Reliable/responsible. Then I completed an 'Authentic Happiness' test from the site AuthenticHappiness.com and I was amazed of the accuracy from the results. I also like the idea of referring to my 'Signature Strengths',as per Martin Seligma-Authentic Happiness, every day as a reminder to practice them and incorporate them into my day at a more conscious level.
My Top 5 Signature Strengths
-Vitality: zest, enthousiasm, vigor and energy
-Gratitude
-Appreciation of beauty and excellence
-Love of learning
-Integrity: authenticity, honesty
Without a doubt I thoroughly enjoy being of service. I have always worked in fields where I could be an instrument to help someone seek out what will make them happy, believe in themselves and their dreams and live their potential.
MY CALLING: HOW I USE MY STRENGTHS
Vitality: I have a zest for life and vibrate when standing in positive energy. I am enthoused about living my best life and I believe my calling is helping others. One way I can do this as I continue to build my business is by ‘coaching’: helping others figure out how they can live their best life and be happy.
Gratitude: I use my gratitudes every day to recognize and feel the abundance in my life. Gratitudes help me focus on the positives and the possibilities. When I stand in gratitude, I feel abundant, When I feel abundant I am happy. When I am happy I am of better service to others, my creativity soars and life’s challenges are manageable and solveable.
Appreciation of beauty and excellence: This help me appreciate the strengths and special talents in others and I will look for these in my day to day interactions with others. I access these as resources and inspiration. When I feel inspired, my energy to be of service is at it’s best... and my passion to create come out! When I feel creative I paint, write, share ideas with my business partners, etc.
Love of Learning: I have always had an inquisitive mind and enjoyed learning about beliefs, influences, strategies for happiness, etc. The other thing I enjoy is to share what I have learned from others or what I have learned from my own experiences. If any info I have helps someone in some way ....than this is wonderful.
Integrity: being authentic and honest allows others to trust me and feel safe with me. I bring these strengths to ‘coaching’ , in my job and outside contacts.

Listened and read P.N re: J.Campbell's 'Reflection on Art of Living'. What I liked about the notes...we are responsible for our own happiness....for our bliss. So why do I worry about what others expect or want me to do? No more! Or at least much less! Today I focus on what makes me happy or brings out my passion. I am responsible for my bliss...so why would I rely on what others think or expect? It's ok to take people's views into consideration to make an informed decision, but my decision will be based on what feels good for me and what will make me happy. I want to reach my full potential by following my path.
I am excited about all the possibilities ahead. I will take a breath and remember that I choose to stand in faith over fear when dealing with whatever comes my way and that I will trust my intuition to guide me.
Am I ready to let go of my old beliefs and patterns that have not helped me? YES! Will it take work? YES! Can I do it? ABSOLUTELY! In order for me to welcome all that is good I am willing to shed and let go all beliefs and judgements that hold me back from being present and happy.
Today I am taking the risk in believing in me....faith in all that I can be!

Follow Your Bliss
I read something meaningful today that made me feel like shouting out 'YES'! The author words were 'Follow your Bliss'. Do what makes you giddy...do what makes you happy. This is my challenge to myself for 2010. I am going to explore various beliefs, affirmations, activities, rituals and practices that I like and that make me happy. I shall journal about my discoveries, reflecting on the lessons I learn along the way, the influence that my attitude, feelings and actions have on my everyday living and about what I attract and what I create, while taking this journey of experiencing more daily joy and happiness. I do believe at the very core of me that everyone, including myself has a right and deserves to feel joy and live feeling happy. The purpose of my blog is to help me stay focused and on track. Anyone is welcome to read my blog and I hope that my stories, experiences and learning will help you feel inspired to move forth with finding your own joy and creating your happy life.
